Wind Energy Forecasting and Action by FogHorn

Wind Energy Forecasting and Action is a solution that allows renewable energy companies to predict, report, and meet users’ power-generation needs more accurately. The solution can generate alerts at least 90 minutes ahead of time for turbines that cannot meet a 24-hour energy generation forecast, and then apply this data to optimize turbine settings or revise a forecast.

Key Technical Capabilities

  • 6 month+ historical and real-time data collected from SCADA controller system on each turbine, augmented with weather, atmosphere, and terrain data
  • 20+ attributes to predict power generation over 15-minute intervals that are used to train models
  • Models that create real-time scores about power generation. (VEL expressions are used to compare performance against forecasts to generate alerts)
  • Finetuning of turbine settings or revision of forecasts, based on dynamic data
