Data Binding with Formatters

In SAPUI5 data binding, a formatter is a JavaScript function attached to a binding path that transforms raw model data into a display-ready value before it is rendered in a UI element. Developers use formatters to handle scenarios where the data type or format stored in the model differs from what should be shown to the user — for example, converting a status code into a human-readable label or applying locale-specific number formatting. According to the Formatting, Parsing, and Validating Data documentation, this mechanism also supports the reverse direction: parsing user input back into the model's expected format and validating it against defined constraints.
